mOck from Berlin challenges us in all the best ways: the trio oscillates between scintillating outbursts and minimalistic reservation. Its unique and yet catchy sound feeds on sources such as post hardcore. Bands like Karate, Honey For Petzi, or Tortoise are important influences. Persisting melodies, rhythmic ruptures and free floating structures that are given to sudden changes combine to create an experience of Puzzle-Rock that lends itself to a very fine listening.
After having released their debut album along with a number of spilt 7″s in 2012, for instance one with Victor Villarreal (Cap’n Jazz, Owls, Joan Of Arc), their forthcoming EP Components, which promises an even more differentiated presentation of their refined sound, is in the works at the moment. In Germany, Coraille Records will release Components as a 10” Vinyl (+digital) on February 21st, 2014. In Japan, Friend Of Mine Records will launch the EP as part of an exclusive CD-release of the mOck album on March 19th, 2014.
